U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence, who represents Michigan’s 14th District, was the keynote speaker for the ninth annual Michigan ACE Women’s Network Women of Color Collaborative Fall Luncheon, held November 1 at Henry Ford College. The theme is “Still Blazing Trails, Still Answering the Call.”
Keynote speaker was Ana L. Ramirez-Saenz, founder and CEO of La Fuente Consulting, an organizational development consultancy. She shared effective ways to communicate with confidence, clarity and authority.
Tours of the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia and Museum of Sexist Objects were held before and after the luncheon.
The keynote speaker was Judi Brown Clarke, diversity director for the National Science Foundation’s Bio-Computational Evolution in Action Consortium (BEACON) Center at Michigan State University.
Clarke also serves as the vice president of Lansing’s City Council and recently was announced as a mayoral candidate for the city. In addition to her academic and professional successes, Clarke is an accomplished athlete and a five-time National Champion and silver medalist in the 1984 Olympic Games.
The sixth annual Women of Color Collaborative Fall Luncheon was held November 11, 2016, at Mott Community College.
Panelists for the program were Mawine G. Diggs, eastern campus president/CAO for Wayne County Community College District; Marcy Garcia, vice chair for the Genesee County Hispanic Collaborative; Rushika Patel, director of the Women’s Educational Center at University of Michigan-Flint; Lisa Webb Sharpe, senior vice president for Lansing Community College; and Robin Smith, board of trustee member for Lansing Community College.
The fifth annual Michigan ACE Women’s Network Women of Color Collaborative Fall Luncheon was held November 13 at Grand Valley State University.
